CH350

Welcome to CH350, Biophysics, and CH351, Physical Chemistry at Loras College.  This course will cover fundamental principles in thermodynamics and kinetics, with a specific focus on their application to biomolecular phenomena.  An extended treatment is given of the properties and structure of gases, the laws of thermodynamics, the physical transformations of pure substances, the properties of mixtures, phase and chemical equilibrium, and electrochemistry.  Much of this will expand on the topics discussed in general chemistry (CH111/112).  This is a 4 credit course that consists of three weekly one hour lectures and a weekly four hour lab.  The prerequisites for this course are CHE112, MAT150, PHY210/211 or L.PHY-223.
